The Training Wheels are in the Trash!

N even took a turn helping T get started

This morning, while I was shoe shopping with N & J, T wanted to try the bigger bike with NO training wheels. So, G took him out to the nearby field and practiced. He's a bit short for the red bike, so stopping is a little tricky, but he did it! When I got home, I was treated to a great show!! He'd walk up the street a ways with G, get on the bike, ride it down the street, and stop on our front lawn. After a few times of doing this, he picked up the training wheels that were taken off of his smaller blue bike and walked over to the trash and dumped them in. Yeah!!!

T's Bike Upgrade

We spent part of the morning cleaning up in the garage. It was a perfect time for T's bike to be upgraded. He had completely outgrown his bike. We pulled down the next size bike from a hook in our garage and fitted it with training wheels. T was SO excited about this. He couldn't wait to give it a try.

After a couple of adjustments to the seat and the training wheels, T took off! He LOVED it!

Below, I just HAD to get a couple of close-up shots of T.

December Bike Ride

I decided that I wanted to go on a bike ride today. It was beautiful outside and I didn't feel like sitting around the house ... with those dirty dishes staring at me and all. All of the boys wanted to come, too, which is what I wanted. We rode down to the big neighborhood park nearby and spent a little time there, too. We only had 1 bike wipeout. It would have felt like a crime to not go outside today.

Morning Bike Ride

After our big bike ride!
T & I went on quite a bike ride this morning. I have to admit that I wasn't jumping at the chance to go, however, once I decided that we should go I was enjoying myself. I've kind of been in a bit of a funk lately, and it would have been real easy to just slump around the house, but this bike ride felt great. The weather is gorgeous out here, and T can really get going on his bike ... so we were able to go quite far. We got to see B at recess at the school. We rode around the park & field adjacent to the school and wound around the neighborhood. When possible, I asked T which way he wanted to go. Then, we rode around in circles on our street until I got too dizzy. T was asking last night about doing a bike ride, and I'm so glad we did. It was fun, and I needed to get out. Now, back to playing Legos together. He's been following me around with Legos for the past couple of weeks. He built a house and wants to play every second, hence a huge pile of neglected clean laundry among other things.

I Did It!!!

Any chance he gets, T grabs his bike and takes it out for a spin. He FINALLY got the handle of pushing the pedals forward and going on his own! Yeah! He kept saying, "Momma, I did it!" He kept going up and down the sidewalk. I need to raise the seat for him to make it even easier. I'm so glad he finally got that hang of it. We're both much happier! Before, he kept pushing backwards on the pedals causing the brakes to keep stopping his progress. He didn't want to come inside at all, and he couldn't wait to show Dad.
